English 8: Super excited for tomorrow!
Socials 8: Choose ONE of the following questions to respond to in a journal response:
1) The Age of Exploration started this idea of globalization, of expanding our economy and opening trade internationally. When you think about this idea of globalization, is it a good thing, or is it always going to be unequal, with one group taking advantage of another?
2) Consider the two nicknames given to this period: Age of Exploration and Age of Discovery. In what ways are one or both of these terms problematic? Use specific references to back up your opinion. You might consider the connotation (feelings/ ideas associated with a word) and denotation (dictionary definition) of both terms.
3) Explain what is happening in this editorial cartoon, and what the artist is saying about Columbus. Is this a positive or negative characterization? Are there any comparisons being drawn?
