NM10: Please bring your completed essay to class tomorrow. Print is preferred, if possible.

Hopefully doing our intro & concluding paragraph together was helpful. Here are our notes -

Introduction Paragraph (4 sentences):
1) introduce topic/ focus
2) background information
3) thesis
The two cartoons on the class website/ found on Google offer similar/ different perspectives on ____subject____. The first cartoon depicts/shows (1-sentence summary). The second depicts/ shows (1-sentence summary). [thesis]
The two cartoons on the class website offer similar perspectives on the use of technology.  The first cartoon is of an elephant attempting to teach a class of mice how to use computers. The second cartoon is a split panel: one side has a man in front of a class of humans, and the other has an alien in front of a group of humans. (then record the thesis that you and Ms. M came up with together, from either Tues/Thurs).

Conclusion Paragraph (ideally 3 sentences):
1)   Restate your thesis in different words
2)   Remind the reader of the focus of each body paragraph
3)   Concluding remarks: what was the purpose of reading this essay?

The two cartoons, despite the different subjects, satirizes (makes fun of) people’s attention spans in a digital world. These problems occur not just in a classroom setting, but also when being allowed to use technology.
Ultimately, it is clear that one needs to re-evaluate the purpose behind their use in technology, regardless of who and where they are.
