Blurb 2: Identify which Appeal you used (which: ethos/ logos/ pathos). Specify the example in your ad (where?). Explain why this counts as an example of that appeal.

Blurb 3: Identify all other visual strategies (lighting, proportion, metaphors, etc.). Describe the impact they have on the audience (e.g. the message, the atmosphere…). CLE: Apr. 27, 2022

To prepare for our mock interview, you will research body language presentation and select one video or article to summarize. Think of this like your annotated bibliography for the Personal Project: you’ll indicate the main idea of the article, summarize key points/  findings, and conclude by indicating who this information benefits, and how

Please UPLOAD your completed Body Language Article/Video Summary (suggested 150 words) to this activity. Remember, the key here is to examine further how body language transmits messages (un)intentionally.

POTENTIAL SOURCES (though you can also choose your own article)

·             Confident Body Language Tips (2017): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRp1ePrFkng

·             Forbes: Body Language that Gets the Job (2011):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV1cMmCKxmY

·             Learn Positive Body Language in Five Minutes (2019): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YayWhu4kcHc *note class discussion on manners/ formality

·          note: Nick Saraev also has a series where he breaks down the body langauge of different celebrities' interviews. You can skim through 5 minutes of one of those videos, instead, if you like. Or, you might also be aware of other YouTubers who have made content on how to present in front of an audience – these could also be good sources to use.

CLE - Book Nook Budgeting Project

Room 207 Book Nook
practice budget planning

The Overview
I have $100 (including tax) to create our book nook. We will practice budgeting BRIEFLY by choosing items you want for our nook. I’ll collect your budgets, and purchase based in part with your decisions.

What are some things you’d want for the space??
e.g. rug, chairs, lamps, side table, pictures hanging, plants…

Please also take into account our Grade 8 survey:

Forms response chart. Question title: What would you like to see in our book nook?. Number of responses: 16 responses.
We should include their wants, too, as this space is for all of us.

Your Task Today

1. List out all the items you want for this space. You don't need to include books, as I have a separate budget and made those purchases on Friday. However, if you really want a certain title that you DON'T see, let me know.

2. Number your items in terms of priority: what is MOST important that our space have?

3. Search on Ikea (Richmond), Jsyk (Richmond), and possibly Craigslist for your items. Some items (like if you want photo frames), we can get at the dollar store (postcard-size: $2-3; 8x11" size - $4). I recommend you start with the high-priority items, and then use leftover money for the others.

caveat 1: I rely on public transit, so I'm sorry, but I won't be purchasing and transporting a couch from store to my apartment to school.
caveat 2: If searching on Craigslist, do NOT reach out to the seller. I will do this. Please limit to sellers in Richmond or Yaletown (Vancouver)

4. Please send me your shopping list via email, including the following information for each item:

[what the item is] + URL/ link (Ikea, Jysk, Craigslist, Dollar Store)  + $ cost (include 12% tax unless Craigslisting)
- 1-2 bullet rationale for why you're choosing this item
