 Tutorial Block/ Home Study

Choose one of the following film ads. Like we did in class, summarize important information about the film OR TV show, and then create a chart that breaks down 3-4 foci, where you see it, and what it means. You may choose your own (not listed here), but it needs to be complex enough to allow for analytical discussion. This one will be used for an analysis writing activity (Criterion A/B).

Film/ TV Show

What do you know about the film/ franchise? (e.g. genre, audience, plot, characters…)

If you are done your "Your Voice Your Choice:"

We are going to practice the skills used to create visual ads. First, choose a product/ idea that is concrete enough to illustrate on paper (e.g. "school" may be more concrete than, say, "life" as a subject).

Similar to the ads we saw today, figure out 2 different ways to represent it VISUALLY. We have laptops and online services to aid you:

  • canva.com
A free online software for advertisements, logos, instagram content, etc. Offers multiple templates. Contains a series of free and for-purchase images, illustrations and backgrounds. Requires an account to use.
  • drawings.google.com (free, but requires an account)
A visual Google Docs, this online system allows Google users to add text and images (from online or a computer) and orient however they want, on a blank canvas  Account required.
  • pixlr.com/x/ (free, no account needed, but requires background knowledge)
The free, online version of Photoshop. Does require some skill or familiarity with the format/ layout of Adobe. Some free stock images
