English 8 : Your Reader's Theatre journals are due at the end of class on Wednesday. IF YOUR OUTLINE IS NOT DONE IN CLASS, you are asked to come for support at least once:

- before school tomorrow (any time between 7:00-8:00, in our class)

Just a Reminder

     When I was your age, getting any assignment back was an instant adrenaline rush. Your teacher gives general feedback, and your ears are straining to pull at anything that could possibly have described your submission. 

     "Some people didn't consider that the curtain was blue." Did I? I did, but I didn't make it clear enough.

     "Some of us forgot to include question 4, and that meant you were unable to fully answer question 7." Yeah,  that was me. I must have lost major points there. 

     As you could imagine, then, report cards were the boss stage. Marks meant everything to me. They dictated whether I felt confident, or less than. They told me whether to smile or fight back tears. They told me whether to relax on Sunday, or vow to never let an hour go by without reviewing my notes. 

     This is not to say marks are unimportant. There are significant consequences to dismissing them. They are a measurable method to chart your growth. Universities and colleges look at them. You need to work hard enough to achieve your goals. 

     At the same time, I wish to iterate, for those who need it, the words that one teacher (let's call her Mrs. A) gifted to me: sure, they're important, but numbers do not define your worth as a human being. Your academic growth is part of your journey, and who you are. But it does not dictate your value as a person. Only you can determine your own self-worth. I can only remind. you that you are each worth so much more than a single number. 

     Your parents can access your report card online today. If you have any questions or concerns about your report card, please come see me before/ after school, or send me an email.

ENG10 -
Please complete the Holiday Ad Exploration charts for Wednesday's class. We did one as a class, and you had time to complete. your own searches. We then had time to share with each other, to complete the rest of the ads. If you did not use this time wisely, you have homework to do on your own. 

Socials 8:
Cornell notes on "The Mediterranean World" (p9) and "The Romans" (up to, but not including "The Fall of Rome") are due on Wednesday. If you did not finish these in class/ follow along with us, you have homework!

You may be thinking to yourself, "Yes, just two more weeks!" And yes, we are getting close to the break - but we're not there just yet. Please remember that classes are continuing until December 20th, and classroom expectations are still upheld. This means I expect you to be on time and prepared to class; homework, if assigned, must be completed; when we are doing in-class activities, I request you participate to the best of your ability. Two weeks to give it your all, and then two weeks of a break. We're in this together!



English 8: One last class to rehearse before Reader's Theatre presentations on December 12th. Make sure you use this weekend to collect any or all the resources that you need.  Are you ready and excited?

CLE: Your PSA videos are due on Dec. 6th, along with the reflection form you received in class. If you are having trouble exporting your iMovie, please email me by Thursday at 6:00PM in order for me to attempt to offer troubleshooting. Otherwise, you are responsible for having your video submitted at the start of class on Friday.

ENG8: We were refining our scripts and making props/ sets/ costumes today. We present in a week!
